Culture Shock

Dear Julie

Finally I have time to frame a letter. Its been a long time since I had a bit of spare time. Ive finally engraft my dream job. Helping local citizens who need medical checkup reassert is my vocation. And there are a lot of patients here. You know, its the first gear time that I travelled with the Red Cross and in the first place I started, I thought I wouldnt be too buss, simply I was wrong. I must come up to 50 patients every day.
For the moment I am in Tobaro, a small village in Tanzania. Last workweek we worked in a bigger, more than civilized village. There, the people were more civilized. Sometimes we had a patient with a unspoilt infection, but that was scarce. But today, there are 20 people with serious infections. And the reason is, nobody knows anything about hygiene or medical advice. To reach to the nearest hospital, you should travel two and a fractional hours. Its like weve travelled back in time. Here, you rede rarely a car. Bikes and old, wasted buses are the only elbow room of transport. Another thing that is strange, is the way people eat. They dont use forks, knives and spoons. They use only their hands, which are dirty.

And what they eat is until now more stranger. Their best specialties are white grubs, which are set up in high trees. Then they climb in these 15 metre high trees (with no protection!) to catch them. And subsequently they prepare them for dinnerĂ¢€¦ alive.
A few days past someone gave me ten huge spiders. I was told to keep them until Im back at home. I would eat them unitedly with you. But I know that you wouldnt eat them, so I threw them away. I hope you wouldnt mind.
We will scold one village next week and then I will be back at home.
