James Langston Hughes

James Langston Hughes, one of the most influential voices in African American history, was a well-known poet born(p) in Joplin, Missouri. Hughes was born into an abolitionist family, which was a family that wanted full civil rights to completely black people. Hughes began writing poetry in the 8th grade, and was pick step forward class poet. After graduating high crop, Hughes father paid his tuition fee to Colombia University, hoping he would pursue a more rewarding move in engineering, but because of his passion for writing, Hughes after dropped out of school and began to pursue his love for poetry.

The Negro Speaks of Rivers is one of Hughess most famous works, as it celebrated the voice and understanding of the black community in a time of colossal racial indifferences, injustice, and inequality in America. He later received his B.A. degree from Lincoln University in Oxford, Pennsylvania, on a scholarship in 1929. From then on James clear his living as a writer.
